Website General Content Guidelines
Writing Style
The Christ Church Chislehurst website writing style should communicate a welcoming and friendly attitude whilst ensuring our message is communicated to a variety of backgrounds, cultures and age groups. The style should be formal, professional English, avoiding the use of acronyms and slang which may not be understood by users new to the church or to the area. If the use of acronyms or slang is appropriate then the full meaning should be visible within close proximity.
Ideally, sentence structure should be concise; communicating one idea at a time so the meaning is easy to follow onscreen or on a portable device. Where possible, include links within the body of the message to related information or definitions to help the user more easily navigate the site.
Submission Guidelines
Each submission to the site should include information to enable the user to assess:
- When the event takes place and recurrence pattern, if applicable
- Start time and duration
- Where it is located, including a link to address, if appropriate
- Who is targeted; e.g., age group, women, men, whole church, those outside the church
- The name or title of the event
- The main purpose, vision, or benefit of event; e.g., to immerse oneself in a week long worship, to fellowship with other new mothers
- The contact information, including name, email, phone number, and head shot (or link to head shot in contacts section)
Please note that submissions should be predominantly focused on the text, rather than a prescribed design, as the design element will be addressed when added to the site to ensure it aligns with the established design criteria, e.g., font, style, layout. If there are design elements that are important to the communication of the submission (e.g., words or letters that align in a meaningful way), please indicate/show this fact when submitting.
Submissions should be made in [Microsoft Word or xxxx???]. Generally, submission should be limited to [xxxx] numbers of words.
