Nominated for 84 Emmys and 13 Golden Globes, including 5 for Best TV Series - Drama in its first five years, NYPD Blue is one of many best primary time dramas in tv history. It is also among the most mentioned and controversial as well. Ahead of its line signature in Fall 1993, NYPD Blue found itself involved in a national debate surrounding proper TV programming and calls for government censorship. Their opening tagline "This police drama contains adult language and scenes with partial nudity. Viewer discretion is advised," caused a quite a stir before the public had even seen the initial episode. Family rights teams maligned the ABC network for airing the show, but when NYPD Blue turned out to be a delicate show by main-stream standards, the massive publicity only served to instantly launch the police drama to the most effective of the Nielsen ratings, where it lived out 12 effective months

NYPD Blue follows the exploits of a New York City Police Department device because they handle the high-stress trials and travails indicative of the world's most challenging police work. Through the show's 12 times, numerous characters transferred in and from the division, but Det. Andrew Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) was the one constant. The brash, steel-gut attitude of Sipowicz established the tone for the show, and many episodes revolve around Sipowicz and his various associates (whose mild-mannered temperaments help alleviate his frequently brash practices). Det. David Kelley (David Caruso) was the initial of the partners, followed closely by Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) The idea of Steven Bochco (former writer for Columbo and author of such reach line as Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, and Doogie Howser, M.D.), NYPD Blue raised the bar for prime-time police dramas, and alongside modern peer Law & Order, the show defined the style during the decade of the 1990s

The NYPD Blue DVD comes with a number of dramatic episodes like the series premiere in which Det. Sipowicz is raised before Internal Affairs due to bothering conduct toward Alfonse Giardella. Meanwhile, his wife is pushing to finalize their divorce, but shot is got by Sipowicz by Giardella in the act. Now, Det. Kelley must apply pressure to the local mafia to help him get the criminal Other notable periods from Season 1 include "Oscar, Meyer, Weiner" in which Sipowicz and Kelley investigate the murder of a whole group of wealthy elites along with a Academy Award, and "Serge the Concierge" in which the two detectives discover a body in a and trace it back once again to a hatched by a hotel manager and her concierge employee
